Integrates the body, mind and spirit. Founded by Sri Swami Satchidananda who was brought to the U.S. by Peter Max in the late 60’s, was also the swami who opened Woodstock and proclaimed it to be our chance to show the world us hippies are “peace and love” (henceforth the festival became known as such). Integral Yoga was one of the first styles of yoga to find its home here. It is a gentle style of yoga, suitable for all age and body types and experience levels. It emphasizes being in touch with the body but not identifying with it. We know pain is a signal from the body that something is wrong so emphasis is also on not going to that pain place. Includes breathing practices, meditation and a long and rewarding deep relaxation at the end. There is some Sanskrit chanting at beginning and end of class. Bring a mat and wear loose, comfortable clothing that has “give” to it. (No blue jeans please.) If you need to borrow a mat until you get one there will be a few available.
Kathleen is certified in all levels of Integral Yoga having taught since 1989. RYT200
